7-year-old girl critically injured by Iranian missile is discharged from hospital
A 7-year-old girl who was critically injured in a March 21 Iranian missile strike in Arad has been discharged from Schneider Children’s Medical Center in Petah Tikva, the hospital said in a statement Thursday.
The statement quoted the girl’s father thanking the hospital staff, which, he said, “didn’t give up on her for a moment.”
“We’ve endured moments that words cannot describe,” the father said. “We watched our daughter fight for her life.”
The girl was hit in the stomach by glass shards from a window that shattered when a ballistic missile made direct impact in Arad, wounding over 100 people in the southern city.
She arrived at Schneider in critical condition with extensive bleeding and damage to her liver, the hospital said.
It was “a complex, multi-system injury with immediate life-threatening consequences,” said Dr. Michael Gurvitz, director of the Schneider Liver Transplant Unit, who operated on the girl.
After a series of surgeries, the girl was discharged several days ago in good condition, and will continue her recovery at home, the hospital........
