In this episode… Will I know Elijah? Do I know myself? And how will I act in my unknowing?

…Grunts and hmm’s and shaking of heads til Benish opens a tale of his own.

“This I seen with my own eyes last year at seder with my wife and kin. Elijah came knockin’ at our door. He weren’t burdened with a terrible child, nor a heavy sack of stuff he owned, nor a pocket waiting with a coin or two, nor a heavenly voice, nor wise, nor kind. A beggar he were which soon were clear. He weren’t no Eliyahu at all. But each time we blessed and drank wine, then he showed a consummate skill. Til it came time for Elijah’s cup, which he grabbed and guzzled the whole thing down. Then he looked around with a smirky* show and stood and says, ‘Now open the door!’

“And that shikker* wobbled his way outside. That’s when I slammed the door on him, all glad he finally decided to go. But don’t ya know, it’s knock, knock, knock, and he wouldn’t stop til I opened up, and he says, ‘Are you turnin’ Elijah away?’

“‘Elijah? No. But you ain’t him.’

“His face grew red and he narrowed his eyes and his white hairs flamed like a burnin’ crown. As a different man he pointed........
