Japan and China face off over Taiwan
Taiwan is the bone of contention in East Asia which refuses to perish. A small island nation to the north of the South China Sea, which China claims as its own and Taiwan refuses to accept, is indeed one of the biggest flashpoints in the region. Taiwan is once again the reason for the latest diplomatic flare-up between Japan and China. What began as a candid remark by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on the Taiwan issue has led to an escalation of tension between China and Japan.
