Regular monitoring can help avoid climate risks

While Pakistan has made some progress in addressing climate change, it is clear that we need more action from both citizens and leaders. The country faces numerous challenges but has opportunities to improve its resilience and adapt to the changing climate. Pakistan has made strides in developing climate policies, including the National Climate Change Policy (2012) and the Framework for Implementing Climate Change Policy. More recently, the government has focused on efforts like the Clean Green Pakistan Movement and the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami project, which aim to increase forest cover and tackle air pollution. Pakistan has been actively involved in international climate negotiations, such as the Paris Agreement, and has sought climate finance and technical support to address its vulnerabilities. The country learned from the 2010 floods and is better equipped now in terms of disaster relief efforts. Some local governments are working on early warning systems and community-based preparedness.
