Peggy Flanagan Makes Her Closing Argument Against Trump’s “Cruelty and Chaos” in the Minnesota Senate Race

Flanagan opponent Michelle Tafoya’s extreme and erratic stands on Operation Metro Surge may well cost her the Senate seat.

Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison, Senator and Democratic nominee for governor Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota Lt. Gov. and Senate candidate Peggy Flanagan, and former secretary of transportation Pete Buttigieg stand on stage together during a campaign event at the Northern Midwest Regional Council Of Carpenters on November 1, 2026 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Minnesota GOP Senate candidate Michelle Tafoya has had nearly a year to take a solid stand on Donald Trump’s “Operation Metro Surge,” which sent ICE and other federal agents into her state to seize immigrants, snatch children from parents, and murder two Minneapolis citizens, poet and mother Renee Good and nurse Alex Pretti. The former NFL sideline reporter has failed to do so, and now it’s Minnesota’s turn to weigh in on Tafoya. Her extreme and erratic stands on Metro Surge may well cost her the Senate race, against consistent surge critic Democratic Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan.

Just to recap: As the siege began in December, Tafoya defended it on her podcast.  “Look, Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a law enforcement group and they are trying to enforce the law and they’re trying to do it in cities that have major issues. They’ve determined that Minneapolis is one such city.” In her campaign rollout video, she included glowing footage of ICE operations. Maybe most outrageously, she blamed Renee Good for her own murder.

“I’m sure you guys are seeing on the Internet this car that was driving right toward an agent,” she said the day Good died, on The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show. “You can’t run people over with a car. The car is a deadly weapon.” When multiple forensic examinations showed decisively that Good was driving her car away from Customs and Border Patrol agent Jonathan Ross, Tafoya shifted blame to Minnesota Democrats she claimed were leading people like Good, and later Pretti, to interfere with Metro Surge.

“They have created an environment where people think, ‘oh my gosh, I have to go resist,’” she told The Will Cain Show. “‘I can’t just peacefully protest. I’ve gotta put my body, my car. …This is what I have to do in order to stop this.’”
