There is no freedom without access. And right now, the freedom of millions of Americans — to control their health, their bodies and their futures — is under grave threat.

Medicaid is a lifeline for more than 71 million people nationwide, including nearly seven million New Yorkers. It provides essential health coverage that our communities depend on — from mental health care and home health care services, to sexual and reproductive health services like birth control, family planning, prenatal care, and STI testing and treatment. For many women, especially women of color, LGBTQ individuals and people with disabilities — groups who already face discrimination in our health care system — Medicaid is the only way to access the care they need.
