The U.S. is increasingly politically polarized, with few issues where voters and elected officials on both sides of the aisle find common ground. But over the past year, one issue has brought everyone together: a distrust of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs).

President Trump has vowed to "knock out" PBMs. Mississippi is forcing PBMs to be more transparent and report pricing data. Virginia is trying to eliminate insurance-run PBMs in its Medicaid program, an action New York has also taken in recent years. Billionaire businessman Mark Cuban has PBMs in his crosshairs.
