Oppose candidates who enable Trump

Next year we will decide on a new representative to Congress. Several candidates have expressed interest in the position. One is Johnstown native and New York State Assembly member Robert Smullen.

Since announcing his candidacy, Smullen has rushed to emphasize his loyalty to Donald Trump. President Trump won’t be on the ballot in 2026, but next year’s elections will very much be about him.

People liked Trump’s promises in 2024, like lower prices on day one, but haven’t been happy with how he has governed. His approval ratings are at historic lows. His failures are daily headlines and too numerous to list here. Perhaps Trump will turn things around, but I don’t think he has it in him.
