How can Trump backers defend his actions?
Francesca Simon warned in her Nov. 28 letter, (“Call out Democrats’ deceptive rhetoric,”) that critics of the president suffered from TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) because they criticized without evidence. Allow me to present some evidence.
This Republican president pardoned over 1,500 rioters who attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, including the ones who assaulted and beat Capitol Police.
Three hundred rioters were already in prison, including, for example, David Dempsey of California, sentenced to 20 years for violently assaulting police with flagpoles, a metal crutch, pieces of broken furniture and stomping their heads when they went down. James Comey called it, “an obscenity that would forever stain our history.”
Adding insult to injury, Jared Weiss, one of the rioters who was heard urging others to “kill ‘em,” meaning Capitol Police, was hired as a “senior adviser” by the Republican Department of Justice.
Meanwhile, FBI agents (such as Brian Driscoll and Steven Jensen) who gathered evidence against the cop beaters, and DOJ attorneys who prosecuted them, were fired.
This Republican president........
