HIGH NOTES: Dance marathon, check for hospice, singers for comfort, polar plunge
In South Glens Falls, the South Glens Falls school community raised $735,231 for 36 worthy beneficiaries as part of the 49th annual South High Marathon Dance, held this past weekend. The event featured students in grades 9-12 dancing for 28 hours. Each of the approximately 700 students had to raise at least $150 to participate in the dance. School administrators, staff members, parents, community volunteers, the business community and others all contribute time and money for the event. Since its inception in 1978, the dance has raised more than $12 million for hundreds of recipients.
