India keeps building runways for airlines that don’t take off
Shravan Kumar Vishwakarma’s first job was driving a tempo between Kanpur and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. He later moved into cement trading, steel rebaring, and sand mining, before returning to transport, this time as an owner. The high-school dropout who once earned about Rs 200 a day now runs a fleet of 400 vehicles.
At 35, he wants to add an airline to that fleet.
