Will this be a chance to bring an end to the fighting that has been going on for two years? The momentum that has finally been gathered for a ceasefire in the Palestinian territory of Gaza must not be lost.

The Islamist group Hamas has indicated its willingness to accept in principle the 20-point peace plan announced by U.S. President Donald Trump in late September. The group has announced it would release all hostages from Israel that it is holding captive.

Before this, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also accepted the peace plan. It is significant that Israel and Hamas, long-time enemies, have indicated their intention to enter into negotiations at the request of the United States. It........
