If you can’t laugh at your own wake, are you even Irish at all?

When the call for quirky Trailer Park ideas came from Ireland’s biggest festival, me and my fellow Kitsch Sisters didn’t just jump —we near somersaulted, running full pelt at the application.

‘The Trailer Park at Electric Picnic’ is a signature themed area which is part sideshow, part late‑night speakeasy and packed with oddball attractions such as vintage trailers, quirky bars, immersive theatre, circus and cabaret acts, street performers, interactive installations and small stages.

It feels like a mini‑festival within the main arena – but anarchic and a bit surreal, so we knew our idea needed to be unique if we were in with a chance of getting selected.

There’s a certain kind of madness that sets in when you decide to take on a project like this, when you’re hard-wired for a bit of devilment, especially when there’s a chance to turn a festival on its head.
