Shaheen on House Israeli aid vote: Israel is ‘strongest ally in the Middle East’

Rep. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) said Sunday that Israel is “our strongest ally in the Middle East” after being questioned about a recent vote in the House where more than 100 Democrats voted to cut off aid to Israel.

“This is the time to provide that humanitarian support to ensure that the Palestinians are looking at opportunity in the future,” Shaheen told “Fox News Sunday” host Shannon Bream in an interview alongside Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) when asked about the vote.

“And — but, we need to also recognize that Israel is our strongest ally in the Middle East. We need to continue to work with them. Now, Prime Minister Netanyahu himself has said Israel needs to wean itself off of American aid. So, I’m sure that he’s going to continue to move in that direction,” she added.
