Scaramucci: Gas prices could fall a few weeks after bombardment in Iran ends

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said gas prices might fall a few weeks after the U.S. bombardment against Iran is done.

“Listen, you’re going to probably be surprised by what I’m saying because I’m generally a critic of President Trump, but, if they solve this, if they de-escalate, and I think what your last guest doesn’t really understand is the president and the administration’s getting a lot of pressure on them from the Gulf countries, you know, and we have a lot of investments over there, we’re pretty clued into it,” Scaramucci told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo on his show Tuesday.

“And so, you know, is this three to five more days of bombardment? Possibly. When that ends, assuming they can get the mines out of the Strait of Hormuz, you could be three, four, five weeks away from seeing those gas prices come down, you know,” he added.

According to AAA, the national average cost of regular gasoline per gallon is up from about $2.94 last month to about $3.58 as of Wednesday.

On Sunday, Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the spike in gas prices would not stick. He said that increasing prices caused by the war in Iran would not extend for months.

“Look, you never know exactly the time frame of this, but, in the worst case, this is a weeks, this is not a months thing,” Wright said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

In recent months, the Trump administration has faced concerns about affordability, with Democrats leaning into messaging on the cost of living before the 2026 midterms.

Special envoy Steve Witkoff on Tuesday said he didn’t “know” how the U.S. conflict against Iran will end, with the fighting nearing its third week.

“So how do you see this ending, this war?” CNBC’s Sara Eisen asked Witkoff on “Money Movers.”

“I don’t know, Sara. I know this, that President Trump is the wrong guy to go up against. That’s what I know. He has drawn a red line, and that is that Iran cannot have a weapon,” Witkoff responded.
