House Ethics Committee says it is investigating Texas Republican

The House Ethics Committee announced Monday that it is investigating Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas), though it did not disclose the nature of the probe. 

The panel said in a statement that it had received a referral from the Office of Congressional Conduct (OCC) on the matter regarding Gooden. 

“The Committee notes that the mere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee,” the statement said.

The panel added it will announce its course of action on or before Nov.........
