Maher tells Newsom his Fox News lawsuit ‘sounds like’ Trump

Late night host Bill Maher told California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) that his lawsuit against Fox News “sounds a lot like” President Trump. 

“That sounds exactly like what [Trump] does, suing media,” Maher said during an interview with the governor on Friday evening.

California’s top official sued the network for defamation last June. Newsom is seeking $787 million in damages over his claim that Fox misrepresented his phone calls with President Trump about federal immigration enforcement operations in Los Angeles. 

Trump has previously sued several news organizations, including The New York Times and CBS, over claims of false reporting.

Newsom defended his lawsuit on Friday evening and told Maher that he is “trying to put a mirror up” to the president’s actions, calling Trump a “manchild.”
