Vance detail Secret Service agent suspected of leaking information put on administrative leave

The U.S. Secret Service said Thursday it was investigating a member of Vice President Vance’s detail for allegedly leaking sensitive information.

“A member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division is the subject of an administrative investigation, and potential criminal inquiry, involving allegations of compromising operational and information security,” Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement to The Hill.

Guglielmi said the agency will not comment on any specifics about the case but added that “any conduct that potentially threatens the safety of a protectee will not be tolerated.”

The investigation comes one week after an MS NOW story reported on frustrations among Vance’s security detail over sudden and immediate trips and assignments. This included internal concerns “about Vance and his office pressing them for trips and assignments that some agents consider an inappropriate or even unprecedented use of government resources compared to prior vice presidents.”
