Trump announces ‘Freedom Haulers’ initiative

President Trump on Thursday rolled out a new initiative dubbed “Freedom Haulers” aimed at replacing illegal immigrant truck drivers with U.S. military veterans.

The president made the announcement alongside Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling. 

The administration said the initiative is aimed at connecting veterans with employment opportunities while bolstering the trucking industry. The White House, along with the departments of Transportation, Defense, Labor and Veterans Affairs are involved in the initiative.
