Recall: Dog treats sold in multiple states may have salmonella
(NEXSTAR) – A Florida-based pet food company is recalling dog treats sold in several states that may be contaminated with salmonella, according to a recent FDA announcement.
The canine snacks made by Elite Treats, of Boca Raton, Florida, are called “Elite Treats Chicken Chips for Dogs,” and were sold in 6-ounce black and gold packages. Those under recall have the lot number 24045 and an expiration date of 04/2027 on the back side.
The treats were distributed to feed stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Just like in humans, salmonella exposure can sicken pets, causing lethargy, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, fever and a decreased appetite.
