Trump’s game plan to win back America: spin the narrative
For any president other than President Trump, it would appear that while all is not hopeless, things are not going his way.
Operation Epic Fury was meant to secure a total victory and regime change in a few days or weeks. It is now entering its fifth month. The war so far has been a standoff. Whether or not “peace is at hand” or almost at hand, the promises of resolution have not been met yet.
The possible outcome is an agreement to settle the crucial issues of opening the Strait of Hormuz and the fate of Iran’s enriched uranium over the next month to 90 days, or even longer. That agreement must have at least two qualifications. First, there must be absolute guarantees to keep the strait permanently open. Second, any agreement on the nuclear issues must be far better than the Obama administration’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
Meanwhile, the prices of gas, food and other commodities remain so high that Trump’s public support is tanking. That is both in terms of the war and the economy, where “affordability” seems to be the Democrats’ slogan for victory in the November elections.
Trump’s comment that keeping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons transcends the public’s economic pain was not well received. And Trump’s threat to bomb Oman — our ally of nearly 200 years — should they consider imposing tolls on passage through the strait, is another example of why friends and allies are........
