By land or sea, using the military for law enforcement raises red flags

On Sept. 2. President Trump, following an earlier secret directive, ordered the killing of 11 men on an alleged drug running boat in the southern Caribbean. On Monday, Trump announced that the military conducted another strike on another Venezuelan boat it said was running drugs. That attack killed three more people.

This followed Trump’s declaration that the drug gang Tren de Aragua are “narcoterrorists” and linking them (sometimes mistakenly) to both ICE-targeted migrants in the U.S. and to Nicolas Maduro’s regime in Venezuela.

The first video clip he released on his Truth Social feed showed black-and-white imagery of a go-fast boat exploding along with its occupants after being targeted either by a drone or an attack helicopter. Any evidence that might have been used in the criminal prosecution of these men or their higher ups was destroyed along with........
