These popular Costco items just got cheaper
(NEXSTAR) – Prices on nearly everything remain high, fueled by several factors. At the pump, gas prices remain elevated amid the conflict in Iran. At the grocery store, a dismal wheat crop is expected to raise prices.
Costco, the beloved warehouse brand, sees it. The Washington-based company acknowledged both last month, and even noted that it has cut prices on some of its top products.
“Against the backdrop of ongoing macro uncertainty, our focus is providing quality goods and services at the lowest possible price continues to resonate strongly with our members,” CEO Ron Vachris said during May’s earnings call.
Vachris noted “record-breaking volumes” of gas – a commodity it almost didn’t offer – in the previous quarter. Some of that attractiveness to customers, including many new members, is undoubtedly attached to Costco’s ability to offer cheaper fuel, sometimes coming in as much as 25 cents a gallon under nearby competitors.
Just as it does at its Kirkland fuel pumps, Costco aims to offer high-quality, lower-priced Kirkland Signature items within its warehouses. Some of those items are getting even cheaper, according to company executives.
