In a display of historical ignorance and partisan hysteria, a USA Today article on Monday breathlessly reports on another left-wing manufactured Trump administration controversy.

The perceived issue is that Murray Bessette, a principal deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Education, has a flag hanging outside his office. The flag in question? The “An Appeal to Heaven” flag. The left has attempted to reframe it as a Christian Nationalist flag and previously used it as a cudgel to beat U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito Jr. during the Biden administration.
