How a Peaceful Protest by UP Schoolchildren Brought Fans and Better Classrooms

A classroom is where children spend some of the most important hours of their day. But learning becomes difficult when the space around them lacks basic facilities such as fans, proper seating, clean drinking water, and comfortable classrooms.

For students of Sarvodaya Inter College in Kishanpur town of Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, these were not just facilities on a checklist. They were everyday needs that affected their school experience.

During the peak of summer, many students faced uncomfortable classroom conditions. Several classrooms lacked adequate fans, while furniture and other basic arrangements also needed attention. Instead of continuing to wait for change, the students decided to raise their concerns themselves.

The students of Sarvodaya Inter College belong to Generation Alpha, a term used for children born from around 2010 onwards. Growing up in a world where information travels quickly, these young learners found a way to bring attention to problems inside their own school.

Their demands were simple, which is better classroom facilities so that they could study in a more comfortable environment.
