Swindon Town's improving defence is key in promotion chase

Ryan Tafazolli has led a small defensive revolution at Swindon Town over the last few weeks, and that might put this team over the top.

It was a goal kick during the first half with Swindon leading 1-0. Despite the lowly league position of their opposition, the match had been trickier than it would first seem after taking a lead in the tenth minute. Once again, five Newport players trotted forward to put pressure on the Swindon back line.

Tafazolli looked right and then left, before turning to Connor Ripley and instructing him that now was not the time to go short. He raised his arm and flicked two fingers to indicate to Jamie Knight-Lebel to step up and told Ollie Clarke the same thing.

Taking a goal kick long may not be the biggest thing in the world, but it was a clear representation of what the former Wycombe Wanderers defender has meant to Swindon so far. Town have plenty of players with know-how who have made a difference since their arrival, Tom Nichols and Ripley arriving........
