Swindon Town look crazy but there is method to the madness
With players being moved all over the pitch, do Swindon Town have the right make-up of their squad to accomplish their aims?
In the first few weeks of the season, there has been some consternation around players being used in unfamiliar positions. Ollie Clarke, James Ball, and Harry Smith at centre back, and Paul Glatzel moving as far back as left wing-back at times against Cardiff City.
Ian Holloway went even further than that in the lead-up to the Oldham Athletic match, suggesting that he believes that Aaron Drinan could also be a wing-back should he need to be. All of this, along with the consistent references to “racking and stacking” forward players, has seen some question the level of focus placed on having as many forwards as Holloway has.
It is blatant to see that Holloway has a distinct focus on attacking players, for the simple reason that he wants to play attacking football. Whilst Drinan may be viewed as a striker by many, that is not how his manager sees things.
