Will Fleming Way revamp bring town centre back to life?
Shop workers claiming that the reopening to pedestrians of Fleming Way is bringing the town centre back to life sparked a lot of discussion
Work to build a new public transport hub on Fleming Way in Swindon first began in September 2022, and saw the road closed to the public for almost three years.
The closure hit The Parade's footfall hard, as residents diverted away from the area to find alternative routes to Swindon's bus and train stations.
However, the partial reopening of the £33 million bus boulevard on August 15, has now been praised as shoppers have flocked to the area to take a look.
Here’s what you had to say on the matter.
Martin Campbell said: “Very unlikely as it’s not open to buses yet.”
Deano Dean said: “With what shops to visit? Most of them are coffee shops betting shops or for vapes, oh can’t forgot Greggs shops.”
Fika Coffee and Wine said: “Don’t forget us. Yep, we sell wine, beer, cider and the floor isn't sticky. It would be great if the shops weren't closing as fast as they open.”
