News of Swindon Designer Outlet shoppers leaving bad reviews for the retail village because they got fined for driving on a bus-only road sparked a lot of debate.

Many one-star reviews left within the last year have lowered the shopping hub’s overall rating to 3.9 out of five, as shoppers feel shocked by this unpleasant surprise.

Between April 2023 and April 2024, more than 14,000 fines were issued for people misusing Penzance Drive, around 40 a day.

It resulted in around £500,000 being gathered by the local authority every year on this one road.

Anthony Sharps said: “There are signs, the road is painted a different colour and there are no cars going down there. Even though it looks like that’s where the entrance is for the big car park next to the road. Let’s go for it, I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
