Swindon reacts as Poundland stores possibly 'facing closure'

News of Poundland’s financial struggles have been met with shock and disappointment by Adver readers.

Reports indicate that he popular high street chain is set to be sold as it struggles to battle an "increasingly challenging" retail landscape, putting several stores at risk of closure.

The budget retailer has a store on Havelock Square and Greenbridge Retail Park, and took over the former home of Wilko on The Parade in December 2023.

This comes after parent company Pepco Group confirmed last week that it was exploring "all strategic options" for Poundland, including a potential sale.

A spokesperson from Pepco informed The Telegraph, "As stated at our capital markets day on March 6, we are actively exploring separation options, including a potential sale, for the Poundland business. We have started to work with advisers to support us with this process."
