Swindon locals speak out about fly-tipping and tip troubles
Swindonians have spoken out about the fly-tipping seen around the town.
This came after outraged residents on Albion Street and Joseph Street reported that a mattress, bathtub, highchair, umbrella, scooter, TV stand and books had been dumped near their homes last week.
Here’s what you had to say on the matter.
Alan Turner said: “The Mayor of New York started to turn the city around when he targeted all the seemingly minor things like this and cyclists on pavements and actually enforced the law.
“I think he reduced the crime rate by 50 per cent.
“We, however, will not do what it takes to deter these lowlifes from making good people’s environment a pleasant place to live.
Stand up and change things, or it will get worse.”
Helen May-Peters said: “Standard behaviour from many residents in the town centre these days - people have zero pride in their surroundings.”
Mike Allen said: “The whole area is a joke, the back entrances to properties are no-go areas because of the amount of rubbish dumped, and as for the old canal path area, as someone pointed out, has CCTV all along the route, but nothing is done?
“I’ve seen comments pointing fingers at different groups for the reason this is happening, and maybe they’re right, who knows?
