Swindon residents are to see the recycling bin collection changes that took place over Christmas continue across the festive period this year too, following the successful trial.

Over Christmas in 2024, residents of Swindon had their recycling collection days shifted back two days from their usual collection.

Those with a usual collection day of Tuesday saw their waste collected on Thursday, those with a usual collection day of Wednesday saw their waste collected on Friday, etcetera.

The change aimed to prevent a backlog from occurring from collections scheduled for Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

Now, the council has confirmed the change will be repeated over the next festive period, with Swindon Borough Council hailing the trial as a “real success”.
