Reaction as first buses test redeveloped Fleming Way
Adver readers reacted to the latest update on Fleming Way’s redevelopment as buses tested the route for the first time.
Significant progress has been made on the £33 million-pound construction project, which first began in 2022, and is now set for completion in the summer of 2025 - a year later than planned.
Following the reopening of the pedestrian walkway in December 2024, the very first buses have now taken to the road to test out their new route.
This marked the first test of the route, to ensure that the layout, bus shelter locations and crossing points were all in the right places and no hiccups would occur.
Photos show what the area looks like currently.
Here’s what you had to say on the matter.
Geoffrey Eeles said: “A £33 million waste of money. SBC, how many millions of pounds are you short in the new budget? £14 million was it?”
