Punters celebrate Swindon's The Roaring Donkey annivsary
News of an historic Swindon pub celebrating its first anniversary with a new landlord went down well with our readers.
Faical Ben Wahida, known as Fazz, got the keys for The Roaring Donkey on Albert Street, Old Town, back in August 2024 and spent months transforming the disused pub, after it closed suddenly earlier that year in April.
After refurbishing the venue with a brand-new bar and interior and organising live music events, Fazz welcomed customers last November, saying it was a "dream" to run The Roaring Donkey in a community he has lived in for 15 years.
One year on, Fazz said how pleased he is with the progress he has made and was delighted to welcome in so many happy customers.
Here’s what you had to say on the matter.
Sean Dempsey said: “’The man who saved the Donkey!’ Top guy and lovely pub.”
Jackie Francis said: “Went in there back in the 70's. My Grandad, who was visiting us from London, knew the landlord, and we had a lock in.
“I had too much to drink and fell off a bar stool!!! Don't drink anymore and it'd take me a fortnight to get on a bar stool these days!”........
