Police catching speeding drivers in Swindon sparks debate

Police catching more than 140 drivers speeding near a Swindon school got a lot of people talking.

Police speed enforcement sessions on Queens Drive outside Holy Cross School last week registered the fastest vehicle at 51mph in a 30mph zone.

Here’s what you had to say on the matter.

Samuel Boe said: “Define dangerously speeding. Is it like 140 mph. Or is it about 3 mph over the limit?”

Darron Borrow said: “You wouldn’t be making these stupid comments if someone you know got killed by someone speeding, grow up.”

Matt Brennan said: “It’s half term.”

Adam Baker replied: “They did the cameras last week and about a month before that too. People come off queens drive at 40 and don't slow into the 30 limit.”

Attila Hok replied: “The speed limit doesn't change whether it's school time or not.”

Mike Robinson said: “If only drivers stick to the speed limit, it's not rocket science. But obviously a very difficult driving skill to master for some.”
