Greggs: Support in Swindon over shoplifting measurse

News of Greggs moving its food behind the counter due to shoplifting has been met with support and concern.

The pastry chain is trialling the layout change in five of its branches in the UK.

Chelsey Danielle said: “I’m not surprised, people walking out with food on the shelves in Greggs happens all the time in the Town Centre.”

Barry Cook said: “So back to how shops were originally 60 years ago, you walked in stood at the counter and ask the shop keeper for what was on the shelf behind.”

Ryan Daly said: “Okay cool, either way the foods still going to be stone cold.”

Stephen Islip said: “Better than charging “a tax” on those who are legit.”

Gordon Moore said: “Good grief, self-checkouts next! Oh well, that stops shoplifting.”

Pat Goodall said: “Don't blame them.”

Sara McCallum said: “I work in retail and there is nothing we can do to stop them.

“Last week we had 60 rolls of frog tape nicked, 14 packets of outdoor taps stolen, all our ice fusion brushes get stolen someone trying to steel copper pipe and........
