Alleged Toby Carvery theft sparks debate about crime and food
An alleged dine-and-dash at the Toby Carvery in Swindon has sparked a lot of discussion online.
Police are investigating after diners in the carvery allegedly left the restaurant without paying for their meal.
The incident took place in the Toby Carvery on Elstree Way on October 13 last year and police have since been making enquiries.
Six months later, officers launched a public appeal after releasing an image of a person they want to speak to in connection with the offence.
Here’s what you had to say on the matter.
Steve Oxford said: “Only in Swindon. If you’re going to do a runner, at least go somewhere expensive.”
Rob Davey replied: “Unfortunately, it’s not only in Swindon.
“I have encountered restaurants in Norwich that you have to pre-pay at, I imagine for the same reasons.”
Ben Dawkins replied: “To be fair, even at nothing, a Toby Carvery is still overpriced.”
