U.S. NGBs have a unique and important opportunity ahead of the 2028 Olympics

In just three years, the Summer Olympics will return to U.S. soil for the first time since Atlanta in 1996. The Los Angeles 2028 Games present a once-in-a-generation opportunity for every Olympic sport in America. If leveraged properly, these Games could reverse decades of declining participation and shrinking visibility for many sports outside the “big four” of football, basketball, baseball and hockey.

However, success in 2028 will not happen automatically. The “Olympic bump” in interest and participation that many sports hope for will only materialize if national governing bodies, clubs and programs are strategically prepared to capture and sustain it. This work must begin now.

When the Games are held in the United States, the exposure is unmatched. There will be more live broadcasts in prime time, more media coverage in both national and local markets, and more........
