Up to 2,000 jobs could possibly be lost in rural Wales next year in 'untold damage'
Up to 2,000 jobs could possibly be lost in rural Wales next year.
The Welsh Government has published its evidence base for the contentious Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS).
The economic modelling undertaken for the government estimated reductions of around 5 per cent in livestock numbers, 4 per cent in farm labour, and a 16 per cent reduction in farm business income, which equates to around £76.3 million, or £4,900 per farm.
Although this latest independent report reads better than the previous one, it is still, the NFU says "extremely concerning."
Laura Anne Jones, Reform MS, has voiced concerns over the findings of the Welsh Government's SFS and its impact on the viability of Welsh family farms and the wider rural economy.
The independent economic modelling forecasts significant harm to Welsh farming businesses.........
