The sweetest day of the year has arrived as The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) returns to our TV screens tonight (September 2).

Among the contestants heading into the famous white tent this year for the first time will be presenters Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, as well as judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

Alison, who often entertains This Morning viewers, replaced Matt Lucas in 2023 on the Channel 4 show.

It was Matt who took over from Sandy Toksvig back in 2020, but before that, Bake Off legends Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins were chosen as presenters for many years.

From announcing Star Bakers to their comical innuendoes, they were a firm favourite among viewers, who looked forward to........
