As the popular BBC drama Call the Midwife returns for series 14, fans are being teased that one popular character faces 'trouble' ahead.

It comes as shop owner and Mayor Violet (played by Annabelle Apsion) confront some tense situations.

First-look photos for the new series see Mayor Violet attempting to calm down the situation as activists protest on the Isle of Dogs.

Sharing on Instagram, the official Call the Midwife page wrote: "In our first episode the Isle of Dogs erupts in protest - but when Mayor Violet attempts to calm the agitators, she discovers trouble on her own doorstep..."
