Bay Area university helps rock legend unretire from touring

After spending seven years retired from touring, Paul Simon is once again returning to the national circuit — with some help from Bay Area researchers.
The 83-year-old songwriter, who came to prominence as one half of the folk rock duo Simon and Garfunkel, played his farewell tour in 2018. Since then, he’s given rare, intermittent one-off performances (including an appearance at Outside Lands 2019). But on Tuesday, Simon announced his return to the spotlight with the A Quiet Celebration Tour.
