Thunderstorm risk rises as the Bay Area's weekend cooldown begins

Cooler temperatures and breezier conditions are sweeping the Bay Area this week, with a modest chance of rain and thunderstorms on the horizon heading into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
The change follows a period of relative warmth from a high-pressure system, but that’s quickly giving way to a series of wind channels — also known as troughs — moving in from the Pacific.
