South Tahoe backcountry skier killed in avalanche at popular storm skiing spot

A South Lake Tahoe backcountry skier died in an avalanche Monday on Luther Pass, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said.
A call to dispatch just after 4 p.m. reported a missing backcountry skier who had not returned home, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.

The skier has been identified as Frederic Dross, a 46-year-old man who lived in South Lake Tahoe. Dross was a husband and the father of two girls, according to a GoFundMe page organized to raise money for his family.
Dross’ wife later found their car at a parking area off Luther Pass, the Tahoe Daily Tribune........
