Calif. could get pot cafes and weed farmers markets, if Newsom says yes

Californians could soon win the right to smoke weed at some restaurants and buy their pot at cannabis farmers markets. But only if Gov. Gavin Newsom agrees to it.
The California Legislature passed two consequential cannabis bills this week. One legalizes cannabis farmers markets, giving pot farmers the right to legally sell pot directly to consumers for the first time ever. The other bill effectively legalizes pot cafes, by allowing pot lounges, which are already legal in the state but are barred from selling food, to sell prepared food and host ticketed events.
Advocates say both could reshape the future of California’s pot industry and provide a vital financial lifeline to pot companies that are struggling to survive an economic slump in California’s cannabis market.
