Trump orders higher national park entrance fees, ends Obama initiative

The Trump administration signed an executive order Thursday calling for higher national park entrance and pass fees for international visitors. The order also scraps an Obama-era memorandum aimed at promoting diversity, equity and inclusion on America’s protected lands.
Trump’s order instructs Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to “develop a strategy” to increase entrance and pass fees at national parks for non-U.S. residents. This includes hiking up the price of the America the Beautiful Pass, which covers entrance and day-use fees at all federally managed recreation sites, for international visitors.
