The Browns may be giving Kyle Shanahan a chance to bring his nemesis to 49ers

The search to fill the open San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator job is suddenly far more interesting.
On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns reportedly hired former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken as their next head coach, picking him over their own defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. That decision — especially after Schwartz made the Browns defense into a feared unit around the league while Cleveland’s offense struggled — apparently pissed Schwartz off.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported Schwartz had been anticipating that he would get the job. When word came down that he hadn’t, Pelissero reported Schwartz was “visibly upset, said goodbyes in the building and told other coaches he’s not coming back.”
