Community cheers on Bo Horvat

Rodney native Bo Horvat and his family are in Italy, as of writing, as Bo plays for Team Canada’s men’s ice hockey team.

Bo is 30 years old, and currently plays for the NHL’s New York Islanders, and previously the Vancouver Canucks, and the OHL’s London Knights.

He plays centre, and is alternate captain for the Islanders, after serving as the Canuck’s Captain. Bo is currently the Islanders’ leading scorer this season.

In his Olympic debut, Bo scored a beautiful breakaway goal against Czechia and scored again against Team France.

In this return to the Olympics of NHL players, Team Canada was undefeated as of Feb. 19 and were set to play for the gold medal Feb. 20 against Team USA. (My Chronicle print deadline was the morning of Feb. 20. I am watching the Canadian Women’s ice hockey playing for gold as I write this!)

Bo, your home communities of Rodney and Bothwell are so very proud of you and this amazing team! Go, Bo, go!
