RHODES: Late 19th-century home one of Chatham’s most beautiful
In the fall of 2024, I published a book titled Boards & Bricks, A History of Chatham Buildings & Structures.
Production of the publication was completely local with the book being printed by my wonderful colleagues at Instant Print & Promo and hardcover binding done by Wallaceburg Book Binding.
Chapter 6 of the book deals with some ancient and fabulous Chatham homes that I have always admired.
However, by the latter point of research I had surpassed 200 pages of content with my original goal set at 170 pages.
Like it or lump it, I had to do some cuts so that the book could settle out at 202 pages.
I opted to trim Chapter 6, dealing with several old Chatham homes that had, as I thought, to have historical significance to the city and one such was the Northwood home at 125 Grand Ave. E.
I disliked making that cut, but I am not subsidized and budgets have to be........© Sarnia Observer
