Iran declared the strait closed and vowed to block American interference as fresh U.S. strikes hit dozens of targets

President Donald Trump said Monday he is reimposing a naval blockade on Iranian shipping and declared the United States the "Guardian of the Hormuz Strait," escalating a standoff over control of the waterway after the U.S. launched new strikes against Iran.

Trump announced on Truth Social that the U.S. would charge a 20% fee on all cargo shipped through the strait. "The U.S.A. will be, from this point forward, known as 'THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT,'" he wrote, adding that the toll would reimburse the U.S.........
